Notes From the Road (7/16/06)
This past weekend was the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame induction ceremony. My band and I performed for the Cowboys Ball on Friday night and then I had the great honor of singing a song during the induction ceremony on Saturday. Congratulations to Hall of Fame Inductees Jim Sharp, Chris Lybbert, Rob Smets, John and Mildred Farris, Bob Robinson, and Doc Sorensen. To be around such dedicated, hardworking, and classy people was an inspiration, and I count it a great privilege to be a part of such a special event.
I've been out on the road all summer on a radio tour promoting our new single "Let You Go" which is released to radio on July 24. It's been a great summer! Everyone loves the music and I'm excited about the rest of the summer and fall. I look forward to being out on the road visiting a town near you
For all those people that I've met along the way this summer. Hey there! Be sure to call your radio station and let them know about the music you love it does make a difference.
I sure am a lucky man to be able to do what I do and very fortunate to meet such good people while I'm out on the road. We're out in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri this week. It sure feels good to be back home in Texas for a while!
Well I'd better run. Thanks for stopping by, please write and say hi if you'd like (just click the CONTACT page).
Take care,
Lane
Notes From The Road (6/8/06)
It's a pretty exciting time right now. We are kicking off our national radio tour this week! I'm so proud of the music we've made and I'm ready to get out on the road and let everyone hear what I do. The single. "Let You Go" will be released to Country Radio this summer so I'll be out on the road all summer and fall visiting your town or one nearby. I can't wait to play some music for you. Keep your ears open.
I'm also very excited about the CMA Country Music Festival this week as well. I love meeting all the wonderful fans that have traveled so far to visit and say hi. I'll be playing the River Stage on Fri. and signing in the booths Fri and Sat. so please come by and say hello. I'd love to see you.
I'm traveling up to Colorado Springs in a few weeks for the PRCA Hall of Fame induction. I'm so honored to be chosen as the PRCA's Emerging Artist. Rodeo is what introduced me to live music as a child, so I am especially proud to be working with the PRCA in this capacity. I look forward to seeing you at a rodeo soon.

Warner Bros. Records' Lane Turner Choosen As First PRCA Emerging Artist
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Rodeo and country music have always gone hand in hand and now the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association is expanding on that tradition with a new initiative, the PRCA Emerging Artist Program.
The program is a strategic relationship between the PRCA and a new country music artist chosen by the PRCA to assist in cross promotion of professional rodeo and country music. Texas native Lane Turner has been chosen by the PRCA as the inaugural emerging artist for the program. Turner will not only perform at PRCA rodeos throughout the United States, but will also act as a spokesman promoting the PRCA, hosting events at PRCA national sponsor outlets such as Wrangler stores, getting the community involved in the whole experience and helping bolster media coverage at the events.
"The PRCA feels like this is a great program that will benefit our rodeo committees, our national sponsors and our fans," PRCA Commissioner Troy Ellerman said. "We are excited to partner with Lane and Warner Bros. to launch this program and feel like it will be a win-win for all involved."
Turner, of Levelland, Texas, grew up listening to country music and credits his parents for instilling in him a respect for the traditional country songs of the 1960s and 1970s. He started playing guitar at the age of 11 and his interest grew from there.
He moved to Nashville in 1995 and was initially rejected by several record labels that told him his music style was "too country" for the country music scene of the 1990s, when more pop-influenced country acts became mainstream.
That didn't stop him though. Turner kept writing songs, playing shows and paying attention to what fans liked about his music. He kept playing the kind of country music he loved - ramped-up Texas dancehall music packed with energy and emotion.
He returned to Nashville in 2002, after three years of steady roadwork, where he crossed paths with Garth Brooks' manager, Bob Doyle. Doyle enthusiastically signed Turner to a song publishing and management contract and took his songs to Warner Bros., where they immediately offered Turner a recording contract.
His debut single, which he wrote, Let You Go, is scheduled for release in July and captures Turner's style. A talented songwriter, Turner always writes his songs based on life experiences and sets them to melodies that will keep everyone on the dance floor. In fact, his debut album, which is scheduled for release later this year, includes 11 songs, 10 of which he wrote or co-wrote.
Turner has always enjoyed the sport of rodeo. In fact, Turner met his wife, Paula, while performing at the Calgary Stampede.
"It is amazing and a tremendous honor to get to work with such great people," said Turner about the PRCA emerging artist program. "I am very excited about this opportunity and can't wait to get out there and play and promote the sport of rodeo."
Turner's first appearance at a PRCA event will be during the Pace Picante ProRodeo Chute-out in Tulsa, Okla., May 13-14, where he will sing the National Anthem. He will follow that with an appearance at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on July 15 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The PRCA Emerging Artist program is a way for PRCA rodeo committees to book Turner as part of their entertainment package and work with the record label to promote the artist and the rodeo. Having a new artist tied into a local PRCA event and using the media and radio in those markets will be an advantage in promoting the interests of the record label, the artist and the PRCA rodeo committee.
Notes From The Road (4/24/06 Edition)
Well it's been a busy few weeks. Just got back from New York City where we had the album photo shoot with an amazing photographer, Danny Clinch. We had a great time and got some incredible photographs that I'm really proud of. I think you'll like them too. But man was it cold. Standing in the street and on a rooftop in 20-30 degree weather with the wind blowing 25 miles an hour makes you miss those hot west texas days. It was worth it though. You'll be seeing them soon I'm sure up here on the site in the near future.
I have to tell you how excited I am about being selected by the PRCA for their emerging artist program. The program will assist in cross promotion of professional rodeo and country music. I'll be performing at PRCA rodeos throughout the US promoting the PRCA at events and national sponsor outlets. I'm looking forward to a great relationship with the PRCA and to play in your town or close by. Please keep an eye open for events. We'll see you soon.
Thank you to everyone sending email. Keep 'em coming.

Notes From The Road (3/7/06 Edition)
We've had a great new year so far. Getting all our ducks in a row for the upcoming photo and video shoot. I'm heading back up to New York City next week for the album photo shoot. The energy there is amazing and I think we'll have a great time and get some great photos.
I know everyone has been waiting for the album to come out. Believe me, I'm right there with you. Hold on just a little longer, we're almost there. It's going to be great and well worth the wait. But until then, you'll still be able to hear some of my music on the radio. A new young artist on RCA named Blaine Larsen recorded "I Don't Know What She Said," a song that I wrote with Kent Blazy and Cory Batten. It's my first outside song release and we're hoping that it will do well for Blaine. It's a great fun song and we had a great time writing it. If I wasn't already finished with my album I would've put it on there.
